India imposes provisional AD on aluminum foil imports from China
The decision followed the affirmative preliminary anti-dumping ruling made by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India on August 28 2024, involving aluminum foils with a thickness of up to 80 microns originating in or imported from China, Mysteel has learned.
The ministry's investigation concluded that India's domestic aluminum industry has experienced significant harm due to the cheaper Chinese aluminum foils, the announcement said.
The targeted products include 5-micron-thick aluminum foils with a width of less than 500 mm and a 99.35% purity designed for capacitor use and foils with thickness ranging from 5.5 to 80 microns for capacitors; while excluding foils with thickness less than 5.5 microns for non-capacitor uses, foils used in electrolytic capacitors, and foils for beer bottles, insulation, and automotive heat exchangers.
The anti-dumping duty is imposed on aluminum foil products classified under the following tariff items: 7607 11 10, 7607 11 90, 7607 19 10, 7607 19 91, 7607 19 92, 7607 19 93, 7607 19 94, 7607 19 95, 7607 19 99, 7607 20 10 or 7607 20 90.
