According to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), China's MTBE exports totaled 589,100 tonnes in January-February 2025, rising 64.55% from the same period last year.
Specially, the exports in February were down 9.41% month on month at 280,000 tonnes primarily due to a relatively high base in January. In detail, the export margins were moderate from late December 2024 to mid-January 2025, when the exporters were active in signing orders which were to deliver in February. While it was Chinese New Year holiday in early February, some orders were advanced to January, resulting in robust exports in the month.

In February, China's MTBE exports mostly went to UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Chile, and Cyprus by volume, which took up 87.52% of China's total exports.
Looking ahead, China's MTBE exports are estimated at 320,000 tonnes in March, rising 14.29% from the previous month based on the export window open until late February. In addition, the unit outrage in overseas market has also resulted in robust demand, potentially contributing to the rise in China's MTBE exports.
