Renewed Sino-US trade tensions triggered a 34% tariff hike on critical chemical imports from the U.S. in April 2025, including metallocene polyethylene (mPE for short). While China, the world's largest mPE importer, faces near-term cost pressures, OilChem suggests the move could accelerate domestic substitution and redefine global supply chains
