NW China's met coal mine halts operation after a gas burst accident

Jinhe Coal Mine, a coking coal mine in Lanzhou city, northwestern China's Gansu province, remained suspended as of Tuesday afternoon after a fatal carbon dioxide burst happened at the mine on April 13, causing five deaths and injuring nine others, Mysteel learned from sources.

The accident took place early Sunday when miners were tunnelling underground. Among the five casualties, two were killed on the site, and three were severely injured and died in hospital later that evening, Xinhua News Agency reported. No clear timeline has been revealed for resumption of Jinhe Mine so far,
