China's Sinohydro signs to join major iron ore project in Gabon

China's Sinohydro Corporation, the state-owned hydropower engineering and construction firm, has signed a binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia-based iron ore producer Genmin Limited, to jointly develop the Baniaka iron ore project located in the Republic of Gabon, West Africa, according to a recent Genmin announcement.

Genmin's 100% owned Baniaka project is located in southeast Gabon and boasts a JORC iron ore resource estimate of 760 million tonnes with an average Fe grade of 36.7%, the company states on its official website. The project is scheduled to commence commercial production in late 2026, as Mysteel
