NBS: China's Jan-May pig iron output dips 0.1% YoY

China's pig iron production during January-May this year totalled 362.7 million tonnes, according to the latest data released by the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday morning. Compared to the same period last year, the volume was largely unchanged, down by just 0.1%.

In May alone, China's pig iron output dropped 3.3% on year to 74.1 million tonnes, the NBS data showed. On a per-day basis, the output averaged 2.39 million t/d, lower by 1.2% from the average in April, Mysteel Global calculated. The NBS statistics concur with Mysteel's latest survey results which
