Indonesia considers returning RKAB approval period back to one year

Indonesia is planning to adjust the approval period of its Work Plan and Budget, known as RKAB, from three years back to one year starting from 2026, in a bid to strengthen its control over domestic supply to combat falling prices of raw materials including coal in the global market, said Bahlil Lahadalia, the country's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on Wednesday.

The RKAB, an essential document for normal operations of Indonesian mining companies, outlines a company's production and sales volumes, as well as infrastructure development and community programs. A regulation passed in September 2023 extended the RKAB's validity from one year to three years to raise mining quota approval efficiency
