According to the latest news, Sungrow has partnered with Bulgarian renewable energy developer Sunterra RE to deploy a 1 GWh battery energy storage system (ESS) across three of Bulgaria's largest photovoltaic power stations. This agreement represents the second phase of Sunterra RE's energy storage capacity expansion plan, which will more than triple its current 300 MW storage capacity. Sungrow will be primarily responsible for the production, testing, and delivery of its PowerTitan 2.0 systems. It is reported that CALB serves as Sungrow's main battery cell supplier.
Sunterra RE stated that the new energy storage systems will enhance the power generation performance of the photovoltaic stations by shifting midday electricity to peak demand periods. This will reduce grid disruptions, stabilize residential electricity prices, and improve the overall security of the energy system.
This marks another European order for Sungrow following its 2.4 GWh contract in July with SUNOTEC, a leading European solar energy solutions provider.
