MYSTEEL: Sudden torrential rains impact coal output in China's key hubs

Sudden downpours hammered Ordos in northern China's Inner Mongolia late Monday, forcing dozens of coal mines to halt production across the country's top coal hub.

Authorities in Ordos issued an emergency thunderstorm response, ordering mines in affected districts to suspend operations and evacuate workers, according to local officials. In Dongsheng district, one of Ordos's coal-rich areas, rainfall of 50mm poured down in just three hours, submerging roads and blocking traffic, a local source told
