Weiming Environmental recently announced that its subsidiary, Weiming Shengqing, is planning to build an integrated production facility with an annual capacity of 200,000 tonnes of ternary cathode materials. The project will include the production of nickel sulfate, high-purity nickel, ternary precursors, and finished ternary cathode materials.
So far, the project has already begun producing nickel sulfate and high-purity nickel, and part of the ternary precursor production line is soon to become operational.
The use of high-nickel ternary cathode materials is considered a key technological pathway in the development of solid-state batteries. In the first half of the year, Weiming Shengqing sold 3,526 tonnes of high-purity nickel plates, though it has not yet supplied directly to solid-state battery manufacturers.
