On the morning of September 20, 2025, PT. QMB New Energy Materials officially inaugurated an annual 30,000-tonne electrowon nickel production line, marking a key milestone in the company's overseas nickel supply chain expansion.
The facility is Indonesia's first integrated base covering the full nickel value chain, from MHP and nickel sulfate crystals to electrowon nickel and high-nickel ternary precursors, aligning with the Indonesian government's downstream development strategy. Senior executives, including Peng Yaguang, Deputy General Manager of GEM Group and General Manager of the project, attended the launch ceremony.
The new line was completed in just five months, from equipment installation to commissioning. It produces nickel plates with a purity exceeding 99.97%. With this addition, GEM's global electrowon nickel capacity has reached 60,000 tonnes per year. The product has been successfully registered on both the London Metal Exchange (LME) and the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE).
