China Shenhua's September coal sales soften 3% MoM

China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., a listed arm of the country's top coal and power producer China Energy Investment Corporation, saw its coal sales during September fall 3.2% from August and by 1.6% from September last year to 36.3 million tonnes, according to the Beijing-based company's monthly report.

The company gave no reason for the decline in its sales last month but this might have reflected weaker thermal coal demand from power utilities, as household electricity consumption waned markedly in September amid the cooler temperatures in many regions.
