NBS: China's Oct manufacturing PMI slips to 49

China's Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector retreated in October to reach 49, down 0.8 point on month after the continuous rise over the prior two months, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on October 31.

The slowdown in manufacturing activity was influenced by multiple factors including the early release of certain demand before the weeklong National Day holiday starting October 1 and an increasingly complex global environment, explained Huo Lihui, chief statistician at NBS.
