Sherritt International Corporation has reported production of 4,852 tonnes of refined nickel (in the form of nickel briquettes) for the third quarter of 2025, representing a decrease of 29.29% from the previous quarter and a 44.01% drop compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the report, ongoing operational challenges in Cuba during the quarter led to lower-than-expected mixed sulphide production, which in turn constrained feed supply to the refinery. At the same time, Sherritt opted not to purchase third-party feed due to persistently high intermediate pricing coefficients. As a result, the company has revised its full-year 2025 finished nickel production guidance downward from the original range of 27,000-29,000 tonnes to 25,000-26,000 tonnes.
Sherritt's Moa Joint Venture, which has an estimated mine life of approximately 25 years, recently completed an expansion expected to increase annual production of mixed sulphide precipitate containing nickel and cobalt by 20%.
