Nickel 28 has announced its operational results from the Ramu nickel-cobalt project in Papua New Guinea for the third quarter of 2025. The project, operated by the Metallurgical Corporation of China, produced 9,242 tonnes of nickel contained in mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), a 34.33% increase year-on-year. Cobalt production reached 887 tonnes.
Nickel sales from MHP during the quarter totaled 9,880 tonnes, up 13.76% from the same period last year, while cobalt sales reached 948 tonnes. The project's net cash cost after by-product credits was US$3.07 per pound of nickel produced, compared to US$2.96 per pound a year earlier.
Craig Lennon, CEO of Nickel 28, attributed the strong performance to the absence of unplanned outages and scheduled maintenance during the quarter. He expressed confidence that this robust production and sales momentum would be sustained into the fourth quarter.
