Tokyo Steel's low-carbon steel sheets adopted for Toyota vehicles

Japan's largest electric-arc-furnace (EAF) steelmaker, Tokyo Steel Manufacturing, recently announced that its hot-rolled pickled steel sheets have been adopted by Toyota Motor Corporation for use in several vehicle models.
Tokyo Steel described the development as a "milestone for EAF steelmaking, marking a major step forward in producing high-quality automotive steels through the EAF route."   According to Tokyo Steel, the selected material is produced entirely via EAF using 100% ferrous scrap, resulting in carbon emissions of roughly 400 kilograms per
