On November 24, CATL announced that it has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Wuliangye Group, a leading player in the wine (Chinese liquor) industry. The collaboration will focus on three key areas, including joint project development, capital cooperation, and supply chain integration. This initiative aims to deeply integrate the traditional wine industry with new energy technologies, creating a new model for zero-carbon transformation within the sector. It will also inject fresh momentum into the development of Yibin as a pioneer zone that prioritizes ecology and green, low-carbon development.
The partnership will concentrate on three primary domains:
1. Co-developing Zero-Carbon Parks
CATL will equip Wuliangye's various industrial parks with photovoltaic and energy storage systems. The goal is to transform Wuliangye's parks into a zero-carbon benchmark for the wine industry and even the broader traditional manufacturing sector.
2. Promoting Transportation Electrification & Building a Green Logistics Chain
The cooperation will drive the electrification of Wuliangye's and its supply chain's vehicle fleet. The partners will also explore the development of battery swap routes.
3. Deepening Battery Business Synergies & Enhancing Product Value
Building on the existing collaboration, the two companies will jointly advance the research and development of composite battery pack structures and explore new product categories. Leveraging Wuliangye Group's technical expertise in high-end packaging and anti-counterfeiting traceability, the partnership aims to create high-standard, high-efficiency, and highly reliable battery packaging solutions.
