Recently, CATL has entered into a framework supply agreement with Singapore-based renewable energy developer Vena Energy. Under this agreement, CATL will provide 4 GWh of its EnerX battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions to Vena Energy's local subsidiary, PT Infrastruktur Terbarukan Sedaya.
It is understood that this BESS solution utilizes 530 Ah battery cells, with each 20-foot container offering a capacity of up to 5.6 MWh.
This project fundamentally stems from Singapore's limited land availability, which restricts the development of large-scale renewable energy projects domestically. Consequently, under the Green Economy Corridor agreement between the Indonesian government and Singapore, a solar photovoltaic project exceeding 2 GWp is planned for deployment in Indonesia's Riau Islands. By combining photovoltaic generation with energy storage, the project aims to export approximately 2.6 terawatt-hours (TWh) of dispatchable clean electricity to Singapore annually.
