South Africa's coal exports fall 4% on year in Nov 2025

South Africa exported 6.44 million tonnes of coal in November, lower by 3.9% on year and by 10.5% on month, the latest data from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) showed. The figure snapped the five-month string of increases since June, when the volume shipped abroad reached 4.47 million tonnes.

The total value of November's shipments stood at Rand 8.04 billion ($517.67 million), lower by 25.4% from a year earlier and 9.1% from October. Based on the export volume and value, the average unit export price stood at Rand 1,247.3/t, down 22.4% on year but up 1.6% on month, Mysteel
