BHP reports record H1 iron ore output in FY26

Australian mining giant BHP achieved record first half-year production at its Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) operations by producing 146.6 million wet tonnes (on a 100% basis) during July-December 2025, the H1 of fiscal year 2026 (FY26), according to the miner's latest operational report released on January 20. Output at WAIO was higher by 1% on year, the report says.

Over the same period, iron ore sales from BHP's Pilbara operations also rose 1% on year to some 146 million tonnes, with lump sales up by 3% on year, the report noted. BHP attributed the record H1 production and shipments to strong supply chain performance across WAIO's mine, rail
