WSA: Global crude steel output declines by 2% YoY in 2025

Global crude steel production among the 70 countries surveyed by the World Steel Association (WSA) retreated by 2% on year during 2025 to sit at 1.8 billion tonnes, according to the WSA's latest release published on January 23.
For the last month of last year meanwhile, crude steel output worldwide in December totaled 139.6 million tonnes, declining by 3.7% from December 2024 and by 0.4% from November's 140.1 million tonnes, according to the same release.   China, the world's largest steelmaker, produced 68.2 million tonnes of crude steel in
