Vale suspends some mining operations in Minas Gerais due to water overflow

Brazilian miner Vale has halted operations at the Fabrica and Viga iron ore mines in the state of Minas Gerais, after receiving official notification ordering the suspension of operating permits at the two units following a water overflow incident, according to a series of announcements released by the company earlier this week.

The company stated that an overflow of water with sediments occurred from a pit at the Fábrica mine on Sunday, followed by a second one in the Viga mine. The overflows have been brought under control, and no mining tailings were released, Vale said in the statements. "No one was
