Fortescue to develop 12 mln t/y Wyloo North iron ore mine in Pilbara

Australian mining company Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) plans to develop the Wyloo North Iron Ore Mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia that it estimates should support a production capacity of 12 million tonnes/year, according to a recent proposal submitted by the miner to the Western Australia Environmental Protection Authority.

The mine, located approximately 110 kilometers west of Tom Price, will feature open-cut pits, complemented by crushing and screening plants. To support mining activities, FMG also intends to develop waste rock landforms, ore and soil stockpiles and additional infrastructure including water management facilities, access roads, pipelines, and power generation
