BHP secures deals with China, iron ore output hits record for YTD Mar FY26

Australian mining giant BHP announced that it has concluded iron ore sales contract negotiations with China Mineral Resources Group (CMRG), China's state-backed iron ore buyer, while posting record production at its core iron ore mining operations in Western Australia (WAIO) during the nine months ended on March 31, 2026, according to the company's latest operational view released on April 22.

During the first three quarters of its 2026 fiscal year, BHP produced 216.3 million wet tonnes (on a 100% basis) of iron ore at WAIO, marking a 2% increase from the same period last fiscal. For the January-March quarter alone, WAIO output fell by 9% from the previous quarter
