On February 3, the Fuzhou Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau announced its intention to issue an approval decision for the acceptance of the renovation and expansion project of the lithium iron phosphate cathode material recycling production line and the new construction project of the sodium-ion battery cathode material production line. To ensure the seriousness and impartiality of the review process, the basic information of the project's environmental impact assessment documents has been made public (excerpted from the environmental impact assessment). The public announcement period is from February 4 to February 10, 2026, spanning five working days.
It is reported that the project is to be constructed by Jiangxi Weibang Material Technology Co., Ltd. The company plans to invest Yuan 210 million to add one sodium-ion battery cathode material production line, a research and development laboratory, and related supporting facilities within the existing factory area. The project will have an annual production capacity of 200 tonnes of sodium-ion battery cathode material, sodium iron pyrophosphate. Additionally, all production equipment of the existing project (lithium battery electrode material recycling project) within the factory will be updated, increasing the recycling capacity of lithium battery electrode materials from 3,000 tonnes per year to 10,000 tonnes per year.
