Poland's coal output drops for 3rd straight year in 2025

Output of coal for all uses in Poland totalled 80.82 million tonnes in 2025, dropping by 5.3% from the 2024 total and representing the third consecutive on-year fall, the latest data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (CSOP) show.
Among the total, hard coal (including coking coal and thermal coal) accounted for 43.01 million tonnes, down 2.74% on year, while output of lignite (a low-grade coal mainly used in power generation) declined by a larger 7.85% on year to 37.81 million tonnes, according to the CSOP.   Polish media noted
