Indonesia's alumina exports jump 23% YoY in 2025

Indonesia exported 5.3 million tonnes of alumina in 2025, including both metallurgical-grade and chemical-grade material, according to the latest data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The total export volume had surged by 22.7% from 4.3 million tonnes in 2024.

The country's alumina export value reached $2.3 billion last year, marking a 15.2% on-year increase, the BPS data showed. By destination, Malaysia, India and Russia were the top three importers of Indonesian alumina in 2025, Mysteel Global noted.
