On March 4, the 240MW PV EPC project in Mooi, South Africa, implemented by China Energy Engineering Corporation's Gezhouba Electric Power Company, officially entered commercial operation. This marks the largest single solar power plant built by a Chinese company in South Africa and represents a significant achievement in clean energy cooperation between China and South Africa.
The Mooi 240MW PV project encompasses the construction of a 240MWac photovoltaic power plant, supporting step-up substations, switching stations, and 11.2 kilometers of transmission lines. The project has installed over 410,000 photovoltaic modules, all utilizing 680Wp N-type high-efficiency bifacial components to maximize the utilization of the region's abundant solar resources.
Upon full operation, the project is expected to generate approximately 700 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually, sufficient to meet the electricity needs of around 200,000 local households.
