On March 12, the Chief Technology Officer of LG Energy Solution (LGES) announced that the company will begin mass production of a new type of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery by 2027, featuring higher energy density and an extended cycle life. This marks the first time LG has disclosed plans to launch a significantly upgraded LFP battery model, aiming to reposition it as a high-value solution for energy storage systems (ESS).
Additionally, LGES is investing in sodium-ion batteries and dry coating technologies to reduce costs. The company is seeking to capture market share across multiple sectors, including electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems (ESS), and humanoid robots.
