CAAM: China's auto sales slip 15% YoY in February

China's automotive market cooled during February, with sales sliding by 15.2% on year to 1.81 million units, while auto output also shrank by 20.5% from February last year to 1.67 million units, according to the latest release by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on March 11.

Total car sales in the first two months of 2026 reached 4.15 million units, down by 8.8% on year, while output reached 4.12 million units, lower by 9.5%. The underperformance of both auto sales and production in February was clearly a consequence of this year's nine-day Chinese New Year
