On March 16, Samsung SDI announced that its North American subsidiary has signed a contract worth 1.5 trillion KRW with a U.S. energy company to supply energy storage system (ESS) batteries, with the supply period running from this year through 2029.
These batteries will be manufactured at the Star Plus Energy (SPE) plant located in Indiana, USA. SPE is a joint venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis, and plans to sequentially supply Nickel Cobalt Aluminum (NCA) batteries and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries.
