Chinese top coal producers flag lower output in February

Coal output from China's two leading producers registered marked declines in February, indicating a slow start of production to this year amid the country's lessened ambition to increase supplies of this fossil fuel.

Coal production from China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd. (China Shenhua) – a major listed arm of the state-owned energy giant China Energy Investment Corporation – slumped by 7% on year and 8.4% on month to reach 25.1 million tonnes in February, the latest monthly report of the company shows.
