Kazakhstan to boost coal output in '26 as power needs grow

Kazakhstan expects to lift coal production to 128.9 million tonnes this year, rising at the fast clip of 11% from the previous year, Astana-based state media outlet Qazinform News Agency reports.
Energy minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov announced this target during a government meeting on April 7, following the country's approval of the Coal Generation Development national project late last month.   The new coal plan emphasizes the importance of stable base-load power supply in coming years amid the country's industry expansion, and schedules
