CISA: Members' crude steel output drops 5% YoY in Q1

Crude steel output among the member mills of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) totaled 202 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2026, slipping by 5.1% on year, according to the association's latest release published on April 20.
For March alone, the member mills produced 70.3 million tonnes of crude steel, declining by the same 5.1% on year, the CISA survey revealed. But the tonnage was 10.6% higher on month compared with the February output, reflecting the resumption of production after the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday
