Indonesia's nickel ore curbs drag down China's NPI imports in Jan-Apr

China's imports of nickel pig iron (NPI) fell 6.9% on year to around 3.42 million tonnes during this year's January-April period, data from the General Administration of Customs (GACC) showed.

Imports from Indonesia, China's dominant NPI supplier, totaled 3.29 million tonnes in the first four months, down 8% on year. The decline was largely attributable to Indonesia's ongoing tightening of nickel ore supply, which has constrained local NPI production, Mysteel Global noted.
