Alba to acquire EU's largest aluminium smelter for $2.2 billion

Bahrain's Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has agreed to acquire France-based Aluminium Dunkerque, the largest aluminium smelter in the European Union (EU), in a deal valued at about $2.2 billion, the Middle Eastern aluminium producer announced on June 2.

The transaction, agreed with current owner American Industrial Partners, will give Alba full ownership of Aluminium Dunkerque.
