South Korea formally imposes AD duties on Japanese, Chinese HR steel imports

Ending a process begun over a year ago, South Korea's Ministry of Strategy and Finance on June 23 promulgated rules under Article 51 of the country's Customs Act imposing anti-dumping (AD) duties on carbon steel hot-rolled products imported from Japan and China. The duties took effect on the same day as the notice was published in the Official Gazette and will apply for five years.

The targeted items include hot-rolled coils and hot-rolled sheets, with the AD penalties decided at 31.58%-33.43% for Japanese products and 28.16%-33.10% for Chinese. The targeted items come under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of Korea (HSK) codes: 7208.51.1000, 7208.51.9000, 7208.52.1000, 7208.52.9000, 7225.40.9010, 7225.40.9091, and 7225.40.9099.
