China's HRC exports jump 12.6% on year to top 1.5 million tonnes in August

China's exports of carbon steel (non-alloy) hot-rolled coils (HRC) recorded their first on-year rise so far this year in August, with last month's export volume jumping by 12.6% on year to reach 1.52 million tonnes, according to the latest statistics from the General Administration of Customs (GACC).

Cumulative HRC exports over January-August reached 9.62 million tonnes, still down by 26.8% on year, however. Shipments to major export markets such as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye all registered considerable on-year increases in August, driven mostly by restocking demand among Northern Hemisphere end-buyers ahead of the peak consumption season
