Luo Jie, chairwoman of Teng Yuan Cobalt, recently said that at its core, competition in the AI industry is not just about computing power, but also about critical minerals and advanced new materials. Energy metals such as cobalt, nickel, lithium, and copper form the fundamental underpinning for the entire AI industry chain. She suggested that companies in the energy metals sector should step up R&D efforts in high-purity metals, green and low-carbon smelting, and recycling technologies, so as to consolidate China's self-reliant and controllable supply base of materials for the AI industry chain.
