Rio Tinto's Pilbara iron ore shipments rise 5% YoY in H1

Rio Tinto, the world's top iron ore producer, shipped 157.7 million tonnes of iron ore (on a 100% basis) from its operations in the Pilbara, Western Australia, in the first half of 2026, logging a 5% increase compared with the same period last year, according to the miner's latest quarterly report released on July 15.

Notably, the company's Pilbara iron ore shipments in Q2 jumped 18% on quarter and 7% on year to reach 85.3 million tonnes, marking the highest sales for the quarter since 2020, supported by "strong system performance and healthy stock levels", it said. However, future ore shipments may face headwinds from
