BHP posts record Pilbara iron ore output in FY26

Australian miner BHP produced 291 million wet tonnes (wmt) of iron ore from its Pilbara operations in Western Australia during the past financial year (July 2025-June 2026), setting a new annual record, according to the miner's latest quarterly operational report released on July 16.

The annual output, which edged up 0.4% on year, fell within the guided range of 284–296 million wmt. The record production was underpinned by strong operational performance across the supply chain, with South Flan – BHP's flagship mine in the Pilbara coming online in 2021 – exceeding its nameplate
