China's MTBE export market experienced explosive growth in the first half of 2026, as the favorable international price differentials contributed to persistent arbitrage windows.

China's cumulative shipments of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) in the first half of the year more than doubled year-on-year, as sustained arbitrage windows between domestic and international markets kept export order activity robust. For the January-June period, cumulative exports of MTBE totaled around 3.79 million tonnes, representing a staggering increase
