Thinning port stocks lift China's iron ore pellet premium to multi-year high

The drawdown in inventories of imported iron ore pellets at Chinese ports over the past two months has driven pellet premiums to multi-year highs, new Mysteel data show.

On July 22, Mysteel assessed the pellet premium for 63% Ukraine/Russia ore against 62% Fe Australian fines at $16.55/dmt, marking its highest level in the past four years and up by a significant 51% from two months earlier. Over the same period, pellet stocks at the 47 major ports tracked
