Glencore ferrochrome output tumbles 75% in H1

Glencore plc, the majority shareholder in the Glencore-Merafe Chrome Venture, one of the world's largest ferrochrome producers, reported a sharp year-on-year decline in the venture's ferrochrome production during this year's January-June half.

Glencore holds a 79.5% stake in the Glencore-Merafe Chrome, with the balance owned by South African chrome miner and smelter, Merafe Resources. Glencore's share of ferrochrome output from the venture totaled 110,000 tonnes in H1 2026, down by a significant 75% from 433,000 tonnes in the same period last year,
