Plunge in South African FeCr supply sends China's H1 imports tumbling

China's high-carbon ferrochrome (HC FeCr) imports posted a significant on-year decline in this year's January-June half, as shipments from South Africa collapsed, causing a major redraft of the country's ferrochrome import map.

Total imports of HC FeCr reached 825,245 tonnes in the January-June period, down by a steep 42.8% from the 1.44 million tonnes recorded in the same period last year, according to data released by China's General Administration of Customs (GACC).
