GACC: China's chrome ore imports surge 32% YoY in Q1

China's chrome ore imports jumped 32.4% year-on-year to stand at 6.45 million tonnes in this year's January-March quarter, according to new data from the General Administration of Customs (GACC).

The country's chrome ore imports in March alone surged 83.6% year-on-year and 36.4% month-on-month to 2.44 million tonnes. The significant on-year increases in both the first quarter and March are largely attributable to a low basis for comparison, the result of severe supply disruptions to shipments of South African chrome
