On August 12, the PV-storage-diesel hybrid microgrid project at Ruide Mining in Zimbabwe, undertaken by AVIC Innovation (a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, AVIC), was successfully completed and officially put into operation. The project features a photovoltaic installed peak capacity of 11 MW, coupled with a 30 MWh battery energy storage system and a 4 MW diesel generator as backup power. It is currently the largest mining-sector PV-storage-diesel microgrid project in Zimbabwe, and serves as a benchmark off-grid microgrid solution implemented by a Chinese enterprise in the African mining industry.
