On August 18, Tesla officially announced that the 6 millionth battery pack had rolled off the production line at its Shanghai Gigafactory. These battery packs are widely deployed in Tesla's mainstream models produced at the Shanghai plant, including the Model 3 and Model Y. They are supplied both to the domestic Chinese market and exported overseas as part of complete vehicles to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
In terms of production ramp-up, the Shanghai factory has demonstrated remarkable speed. The 5 millionth battery pack was produced on November 12 last year, meaning the jump from 5 million to 6 million took only about nine months.
