In August 2026, China's production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) reached 575,700 tonnes, up 8.42% month-on-month. The industry's production ramp-up during the month was in line with market expectations, with battery cell manufacturers placing additional orders, leading to tightening supply conditions in the LFP segment.
For September 2026, LFP output is projected to rise to 604,800 tonnes, representing a 5.05% month-on-month increase. Tolling orders within the industry have shown an uptick, and leading producers continue to push forward with capacity ramp-ups. Should the ramp-up proceed smoothly, actual production could be even higher than current projections. Going forward, close attention should be paid to the pace of LFP capacity commissioning, as well as the supply security of upstream iron phosphate raw materials.
