According to the latest news on September 12, the 80,000-tonne spent lithium battery dismantling and comprehensive utilization project of Jiushi New Energy (Sichuan) Co., Ltd., located in the Yibin Circular Economy Industrial Park within the Gao County Economic Development Zone in Sichuan Province, was officially put into operation.
According to reports, the project involves a total investment of Yuan 300 million and is planned to build 10 specialized production lines in total, including two core production lines, a lithium battery crushing and sorting line and a lithium iron phosphate electrode sheet processing line, along with supporting facilities for battery dismantling and black mass mixing and packaging, forming a production scale capable of dismantling and comprehensively utilizing 80,000 tonnes of spent lithium batteries per year. Once the project reaches full production, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of Yuan 1.2 billion.
Jin Junjie, general manager of Jiushi New Energy (Sichuan) Co., Ltd., introduced that at present, the company's first-phase four production lines have been officially put into operation, with a capacity to process 40,000 tonnes of spent batteries per year. After the chemical industrial park is subsequently approved, the company also plans to add hydrometallurgical refining to carry out deep extraction of high-value chemicals such as nickel sulfate, lithium carbonate, and cobalt sulfate from black mass.
